in the Parable Duology

Discover how Octavia E. Butler dismantles the Eurocentric, patriarchal institution of motherhood to conceive a redefinition of mothering that is Afrocentric, diverse, anti-ableist, genderless, and intersectional in her novels Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents.


This essay won First Place for Best Undergraduate Student Essay, 300 Level, and was published in the Corridors Academic Journal of Best Student Essays.
